The Spireites travel to the West Coast to face Fleetwood Town on Saturday afternoon at Highbury Stadium, in their penultimate away game of the regular League Two season.
Chesterfield come into this game with spirits high, off the back of a 2-1 win over fellow play-off hopefuls Grimsby Town, in which Ryan Boot saved a last-minute penalty.
Fleetwood Town also won in dramatic fashion in their last game, beating Accrington Stanley 2-1 at the Wham Stadium thanks to an injury-time winner from Detlef Osong.
In the Spotlight
Mark Helm has scored 12 goals and set up seven from midfield in all competitions for Fleetwood this season.
The 24-year-old has four goal contributions in his last five outings for the Fishermen, scoring the opener in the previously mentioned 2-1 at Accrington.
Helm is in his second season at Fleetwood Town, after joining from League One outfit Burton Albion in the Summer ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The gaffer’s record
Paul Cook has faced Fleetwood on 15 occasions in his managerial career, winning nine, drawing one and losing one of those games.
The reverse fixture this season ended with the spoils shared, after Dilan Markanday cancelled out Will Davies’ early opener.
The Spireites’ last visit to Highbury Stadium ended in defeat on Boxing Day 2024, after Matthew Virtue and Kian Harratt condemned Cook’s side to a 2-0 loss.
Man in the middle
Ross Martin will take charge of this fixture, assisted by Declan O’Regan, Matthew Parry and fourth official Samuel Bragg.
This will be Martin’s first game involving Chesterfield in his career.
Danny Webb’s thoughts
“They’ve got some very good players. Very good players. They’re a team that goes with two up front normally, and those two are normally a handful.
“They’ll want to finish in the top half of the table. We’ve got to be ready for balls in the box and runs in behind, whilst knowing that when we get the ball, let’s play our stuff. Let’s play some attacking football and get our supporters singing like we did the other night.
“They’ll want to finish in the top half of the table. We’ll go there as favourites. We’ll take a load of supporters, I’m sure, and make a load of noise, and it’s important we don’t leave disappointed.”
