The Spireites play a second successive game at the SMH Group Stadium this evening, with Gillingham the visitors.
Following Saturday’s draw with Harrogate Town, Chesterfield will be looking to record three points on home soil.
Gareth Ainsworth and his Gillingham side also failed to win at the weekend, falling to defeat away to Crewe Alexandra.
In the Spotlight
Bradley Dack is in his second spell with Gillingham, having originally spent five years at Priestfield between 2012 and 2017.
This season, the midfielder has made 29 appearances, scored seven goals and secured one assist.
Throughout both spells with the club, he has played 234 times and has netted on 46 occasions.
The gaffer’s record
This fixture between Chesterfield and Gillingham will be the 11th time, as a manager, that Paul Cook has come up against the side from Priestfield.
He has tasted victory against the Gills on four occasions – twice with Chesterfield, once with Wigan Athletic and once with Ipswich Town.
Since the Spireites have returned to the EFL, they have drawn once and suffered two defeats in three meetings.
Man in the middle
Will Finnie will be the man in the middle for the third time in a match involving Chesterfield.
The Blues have won once, a 1-0 win over Portsmouth in the FA Cup, and drawn once, 2-2 against Solihull Moors, in those two fixtures.
In the 279 games he has taken charge of, he has handed out 818 yellow cards, 40 red cards and awarded 61 penalties.
Paul Cook’s thoughts
“(Gareth Ainsworth will) do what he has to do to get Gillingham where they need to be. For us, it’s just we need three points.
“So for us, we just concentrate on winning the next game, and we’ll do that by being united as a football club.”
