On Notts County
The club was founded all the way back in 1862, making them one of the oldest football clubs in the world. They have been around the football pyramid for years and have floated up and down the leagues over their existence.
Notts County’s first known colours were amber and black hooped shirts, dating from the 1870s. This was followed by short spells playing in amber, then chocolate and blue halves. In 1890, the club adopted black and white striped shirts, and have played in these colours for most of the rest of their history.
This currently sit at the top of the league and will be looking to sustain their momentum until the end of the season and finally regain their Football League status.

Macaulay Langstaff is a 26-year-old striker who signed for the club in the summer from Gateshead. He has scored an impressive 24 league goals in 29 appearances this season, making him the league’s top scorer. Known for his hot finishing, Langstaff is certainly a handful for any defence.

Earlier on in the season, Chesterfield and Notts County played out a thrilling encounter live at Meadow Lane on BT Sport. Goals from Liam Mandeville and Akwasi Asante in either half had the Spireites 2-0 up as the game headed towards the hour mark. However, two quickfire strikes from Macaulay Langstaff secured a point for the home side.
Team News
Paul Cook stated that the Spireites will be going into the clash against Notts County with the same players that were available on Tuesday, plus one (later emerging as Paul McCallum).
McCallum will be available for selection after finalising his loan move from Dagenham & Redbridge.
Akwasi Asante has gone for a scan on his groin injury to determine the severity of the injury. Danny Rowe is also unavailable.
From the dugout
Paul Cook said: “It’s a tough league and the games are unforgivable. At the end of the season, everyone will have played each other twice and everyone will get the points tally that you deserve.
“We are still working away, and we are still trying to make the squad better. We walk into an absolutely fantastic team.”
