The Spireites will host Notts County at the SMH Group Stadium on Sunday evening in the first leg of League Two Play-off action.
Chesterfield head into the play-offs eight games unbeaten, including six wins. The most recent was a 2-1 victory away at Swindon, which secured the Spireites’ place in the top seven.
Notts County have won just three of their last eight in comparison and drew 1-1 with Bristol Rovers on the final day, heading into the play-offs.
In the Spotlight
Despite missing the first five league games of this term, through suspension, Alassana Jatta still finds himself in the upper echelons of League Two’s top scorers this campaign.
The forward has continued his good work from last season, where he scored 22 goals in all competitions, with 16 to his name this campaign.
Jatta’s striker partner, Matthew Dennis, has also found the back of the net on 14 occasions this season, meaning Notts County have a dangerous forward line at their disposal.
The gaffer’s record
Paul Cook has faced Notts County on 15 occasions in his managerial career, winning seven, drawing four and losing four.
The Spireites have won all of their last three meetings with the Magpies under Cook’s leadership.
One of those wins came at the SMH Group Stadium, as Chesterfield won 2-0 on Boxing Day last year.
Man in the middle
Will Finnie is set to be in charge of this play-off tie, assisted by Conall Bartlett, Jacob Lehane and fourth official Matthew Russell.
Finnie has officiated three games involving Chesterfield in his career, in which the Spireites are unbeaten, most notably a 1-0 FA Cup win over Portsmouth in 2023.
The most recent was this season’s 1-0 win over Gillingham at the SMH Group Stadium in February.
