Nothing ‘won or lost’ based on Wrexham match

Gary Roberts was keen to express that nothing will be ‘won or lost’ based on the outcome of Tuesday night’s game against Wrexham while insisteing that the Spireites will set up looking to take all three points.

Speaking to the media, he said: “We’re going out to win the game, nothing is won or lost on tomorrow’s game that’s for sure.

“We’re only two games in as we speak, we can’t get carried away, win or lose. It’s going to be a great game and a terrific atmosphere on Tuesday.

“Two of the biggest clubs in the league up against each other, it should be great. Our fans will turn up in numbers and so will their’s, it’s a great advert for the National League.

“Everyone expects Wrexham to walk the league, they’ve got some great players and we’re going to have a job on our hands.

“We’re just focussing on ourselves though, we feel confident. They’ve got some big talents but we can cause them problems.”

Roberts gave an update on Kabongo Tshimanga and Jack Clarke, saying: “They’re both hopefully ready to play now.

“They came away from the game on Saturday injury free and are raring to go on Tuesday. It’s great to have them both back fit and ready to go.

“They were both injured when I came into the club but I’m enjoying working with them, they’re big players for us and both great lads.”

Roberts also provided an update on Akwasi Asante, who missed the last game on Saturday.

“Akwasi picked up a niggle before the Aldershot fixture and we needed to be careful with him,” he said.

“We were extra careful with him, to be honest. The last thing we want is a long-term injury so we were just extra careful to ensure he recovers.

“We have to manage his body, hopefully he can play some part in the Wrexham game.”
