Spireites assistant manager Danny Webb gave his thoughts on the 2-1 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on the night of Drew Talbot’s testimonial.
The Spireites took the lead in the 36th minute with a goal from King, who ran into the box from the right-hand side and his low cross found its way into the net.
Wednesday equalised in the 47th minute when substitute Lee Gregory connected with a cross from the right-hand side, looping it over Tyrer on the volley.
The visitors scored the winner in the 90th minute when Gregory added his second of the game with an easy tap-in at the back post.
Webb said: “There were pluses and negatives like all friendlies, you don’t get carried away when you lose 9-0 at Matlock and you don’t get too carried away when you lose in the last minute at home to Sheffield Wednesday.
“One of the biggest disappointments from the gaffer was the timing of the goals whether it is Sheffield Wednesday or someone in our league.
“It is better to make the mistakes and iron them out now. The crowd were fantastic, both sets of supporters, it almost took the word ‘friendly’ away from the game, a real good atmosphere from the start.
“It’s still technically early days but before you know it, we are at Dorking at home, so we are ticking the games off and getting a lot of minutes in the bank for the players. We have conceded three goals in three games, we’re scoring a load of goals but I still think there is a lot more to come.”
