Reflecting on issues arising at the first home match

Yesterday’s opening home match of the season was a memorable occasion, with 5,356 supporters inside the Technique Stadium generating a fantastic atmosphere. We are delighted to report that the revenue generated through sales on the concourses was the highest in five years!

We would like to thank everyone who made it a day to remember, including all the staff who worked hard to ensure that the stadium was ready for the return of a sizeable crowd and ensured that the tickets were ready.

The conference & banqueting staff and those working on the concourses also played their part. Our thanks also go to Chesterfield FC Community Trust staff and those from Lifehouse Church for their valued contribution.

There were some issues experienced regarding the service and availability of food and drinks on the concourses. Unfortunately, as others in the hospitality sector are also experiencing, the availability of food and drink from wholesale suppliers is currently an issue, together with the availability of people willing to work on the concourses.

Some of those who were doing their best to serve people in challenging circumstances were subject to verbal abuse, which is clearly unacceptable. We would ask anyone using the concourses to understand the current challenges and treat staff with courtesy and respect.

If you, or anyone you know, would be interested in applying for a matchday role, serving customers on the concourses, please email [email protected]
