Senior Spireites relaunched as Spireites Lunch Club

Senior Spireites lunches, which were launched in 2014, now have a new name.

The popular bi-monthly event, hosted by Nick Johnson and featuring a special guest,  will now be known as the Spireites Lunch Club.

Commenting on the name change, Nick said: “We decided to go with a new name following feedback received from supporters.

“There has never been a rigid policy regarding the minimum age of those attending, but some clearly felt that the name suggested otherwise.

“The new name will hopefully encourage people of any age to attend and enjoy the food and entertainment on offer. We try to offer a mix of special guests, ranging from former footballers to broadcasters, authors, comedians and others who have interesting anecdotes to recount.”

The cost of attending is just £20, which includes a two-course meal. There is a raffle in aid of Chesterfield FC Community Trust and a game of ‘Play Your Cards Right’ to round off the afternoon.

The Spireites Lunch Club guest on Monday, September 29, is comedian and author Mark Ritchie, whose third book – 100 Heroes of UK Comedy…and me! – was published towards the end of last year.
