Spireites come from behind to win

The Spireites came from behind to beat Dorking Wanderers 4-3 on the opening day of the new season with Joe Quigley heading the winner deep into stoppage time.

Liam Mandeville scored twice with Ryan Colclough also finding the net.

Mandeville had a chance for the Spireites just inside the box, but his side footed effort went just over the bar.

The Spireites took the lead in the 23rd minute. The ball was floating around in the box, following a corner, and Colclough laced the ball into the top right corner.

Dorking equalised in the 28th minute, following a cross came in from the right-hand side, with Jason Prior volleying the ball into the net.

Armando Dobra was denied by a brilliant save from Harrison Male, after a powerful shot from inside the box.

Dobra forced another great save from Male, with a long-range effort to the keeper’s right-hand side.

The Spireites almost took the lead at the end of the first half, from a corner, when Jamie Grimes rose at the back post and headed the ball towards Male, who parried it away.

The Spireites went into half time with the score locked at 1-1.

Dorking were awarded a penalty when Tyrone Williams brought down Prior inside the box.

Prior stepped up to take the penalty in the 53rd minute and scored, slotting the ball down the middle.

The Spireites equalised in the 64th minute. Colclough did brilliantly to wriggle away from his man and slot the ball across the box, with Mandeville there to tap-in at the back post.

Dorking were reduced to ten men when ex-Spireite Joe Cook received a second yellow card.

The Spireites took the lead in the 82nd minute thanks to a delightful free kick from Mandeville from around 20 yards out that landed in the top corner, despite a touch from Male.

Dorking equalised in the 90th minute. A cross came in from the right-hand side which found Sebastian Bowerman unmarked at the back post.

The Spireites grabbed the winner in time added on. The ball was crossed in from Ollie Banks and and picked out Quigley inside the box, whose glancing header found its way into the net.
