Paul Cook named an unchanged starting XI from the draw last time out against Aldershot, with Liam Mandeville starting a day after his 26th birthday.
The only change saw Jeff King come in for Lawrence Maguire.
Before kick-off, both sides observed a minute’s silence in honour of former chairman and National League president, Brian Lee MBE, who died aged 86 earlier this week.
The away side started with a majority of the ball, having a penalty shout in the sixth minute.
Mandeville was slipped in and took a last-ditch tackle from James Clarke to deny him a shot on goal.
Armando Dobra had a sighter early on, cutting in on his right and firing just wide of a post.
The first shot on goal was a Solihull one as they worked their way into the game. On 19 minutes, a free-kick led to Andrew Dallas heading towards the far post, but Ross Fitzsimons was equal to the effort.
The Spireites kept possession throughout the opening 45, but were frustrated by Solihull’s stubborn defence. Paul McCallum had a half-chance from a fizzed cross at the near post after 29 minutes.
The best chance of the first half came in the final kick, with Mandeville driving at the heart of Solihull’s defence. His effort though blazed over the bar to go in goalless at half-time.
Chesterfield began the second half much better as Ash Palmer had his header cleared off the line following a corner from Ollie Banks.
The resulting clearance led to Dobra volleying over from the edge of the box.
On 65 minutes, it was the Spireites’ turn to clear the ball off the line. This time, a Solihull corner was met by substitute Alex Gudger, but his header was cleared. The resulting scrap resulting in Josh Kelly appealing for a penalty. The referee waved it away.
In a game that lacked creativity in the final third, Chesterfield nearly found that magic in new signing Ryan Colclough. The substitute played a give-and-go with McCallum and looked set to score. However, Gudger made an excellent challenge before Colclough could get a shot off.
Less than four minutes later, Solihull had a chance to open the scoring. Kelly intercepted a loose pass and ran through on goal, his attempt missing the target at the near post.
It was all Spireites in the final ten minutes with Colclough looking dangerous as he came in on his right and fired toward goal, but the tame effort landed safely in Ryan Boot’s gloves.
Substitute Joe Quigley had two quick-fire headers off-target from close range.
Despite the pressure, it was not meant to be as both teams failed to force a goal and had to settle for a point apiece.
