Spireites slip to defeat

The Spireites slipped to a 3-1 defeat against York City after Liam Mandeville put them ahead.

Both managers named unchanged starting line-ups.

Chesterfield started the game quick on their feet, having early opportunities in the box thanks to Ollie Banks.

Following a strong start, a deserved goal came in the 18th minute coming from Mandeville with the assist from Ryan Colclough.

Colclough had been causing a lot of danger down the left-hand side before the goal.

York responded well with Olly Dyson hitting a post ten minutes after the goal.

Another chance came their way when Leonel John Lewis missed narrowly.

York equalised in the 41st minute when Dyson volleyed the ball into the back of the net.

York went ahead in the 51st minute from Michael Duckworth. Ross Fitzsimons made a mistake in passing to the York player who drilled the ball into the net.

The Spireites recovered from this setback by driving the ball back down the pitch and having clear chances from three successive corners.

Paul Cook finally made changes to the line-up in the 70th minute, taking Andrew Dallas and Paul McCallum off for Akwasi Asante and Joe Quigley.

In the 72nd minute York were given a corner where it was half cleared onto the edge of the box where Paddy McLaughlin picked up the ball and calmly stroked it into the net.

Chesterfield created some chances which were all saved by the keeper.
