The Spireites enjoyed an emphatic 9-0 against Matlock Town in their first pre-season fixture.
Liam Mandeville had the Spireites’’ first clear-cut chance of the game after Darren Oldaker won the ball high up the pitch and squared it to Mandeville, whose shot was saved by the keeper.
The Spireites came close when Joe Quigley had a headed chance saved, following a corner.
Branden Horton forced a good save from the keeper, with a first-time attempt from the left-hand side of the box.
The Spireites took the lead in the 30th minute through a deflected effort from Mandeville, just outside the box.
Mandeville doubled the Spireites’ lead in the 41st minute with a powerful low-driven shot into the bottom corner.
The Spireites went into the half time with a 2-0 lead.
New signing Will Grigg made it 3-0 to the Spireites with a tidy finish at the near post in the 46th minute.
Armando Dobra’s long-range effort gave the Spireites a fourth in the 51st minute.
The Spireites made it five with a goal from a trialist from inside the penalty area in the 54th minute.
Dobra got his second of the game with a brilliant header inside the box in the 56th minute.
The Spireites grabbed their second goal in the 69th minute with a powerful header from Grigg inside the box, his second goal of the game.
Ryan Colclough made it eight for the Spireites with a beautiful solo effort in the 75th minute.
Academy product Archie White was the first to react to a loose ball inside the box and headed it away for the Spireites, making it 9-0.
The Spireites will now look forward to their next pre-season fixture against Alfreton Town on July 8.
