Sponsors visit Erwin Training Ground

Key sponsors of Chesterfield Football Club were taken to the Erwin Training Ground on Tuesday morning, spending time watching Paul Cook’s side train as well as having the opportunity to engage with club figures such as chairman Ashley Kirk and the chief executive, John Croot.

Marcus Leverton played a key role in the development of the lounges at the SMH Group Stadium over the summer, and he shared his thoughts on the experience.

“It’s incredible isn’t it? (the Erwin Training Ground).” he said. “What a facility to have – I’m blown away, it’s difficult to put it into words.

“I brought my youngest son this morning and he’s just smiled from the moment he got here, so thank you for the opportunity.”

Expressing his thoughts on how far the club has come in the last few years, he added: “Obviously it’s had huge investment for this facility to be here and looking how it is now, so credit to the owners and everybody behind that for getting the club to where we are now.”

Having had a good look at the lads train, Leverton said: “They get really stuck in on the training ground. It’s nice to see the level of technical drills that they do and I wouldn’t know that without coming and seeing this today, so it’s been really informative.”

Long-time supporter of the club, Kevin Wagg, added on the insight that those in attendance had seen in terms of training and the facilities: “I’ve been really impressed. Pitch-wise, the facilities are fantastic. With more improvements to come, it’ll be fantastic for any new players signing for the club.

“All the little sessions that they’ve been doing today are different to what I’ve seen in the past, so it’s been good.”
