‘Warfey’ couldn’t come to the National League trophy, so the National League trophy went to Warfey.
Dave Foster, the name on his medical records, has been following the Spireites home and away since the late sixties. Even an accident in 1984 that left him a wheelchair user hasn’t changed that.
After that accident, Dave and his wheelchair made every Chesterfield game for 12 successive seasons! He has also been a season ticket holder in the Motan Colortronic (South) Stand since the move to Whittington Moor.
Unfortunately, complications with his injury have seen Dave in a series of hospitals over the last two seasons, which has prevented him from using his season ticket. Most recently, Dave has been in the Princess Royal Spinal Cord Injuries Centre in Sheffield since January, following the team’s success only via a TV screen.
This week the trophy went to the centre so that Warfey could see it in person. As he pointed out, it also gave Blades and Owls fans in the wards their only chance to see silverware this season!
