Tyrer looking forward to start of new season

Goalkeeper Harry Tyrer joined the club in the summer on loan from Everton.

The 21-year-old made a name for himself on loan at Chester last season, with a number of impressive performances, capturing the attention of many clubs.

The Spireites managed to capture his signature in the summer and the goalkeeper has expressed how much he’s enjoyed his short time here so far.

He said: “I love Chesterfield, I love the place. I’ve only been here for around a month and it feels like home already.

“I’ve been welcomed by everyone at the club and the supporters better than I could’ve ever expected. I’m really happy to be here and I’m excited for the year ahead.”

He touched on his pre-season performances and how he’s found working under the manager.

“The gaffer has been fantastic with me, absolutely brilliant,” he said. “He’s told me exactly what he wants from me and what he’s expecting, but he also understands that I’m a young keeper who is still learning.

“I’m not the finished article and I’ve got stuff to learn. I’ve made mistakes in pre-season but I’m adapting to playing a new way, trying to play more with my feet and be more positive in my positional play.

“I’m so excited for the season ahead. It’s a big season for me personally and for the club. I’d love to be part of the team that got this club back to where we belong.

“I’m buzzing for the opening game on Saturday and urge all the supporters to come down and back us – we need your support!”
