Spireites midfielder Michael Jacobs spoke with the media ahead of the National League clash with Rochdale and began by reflecting on Tuesday’s postponement at Halifax.
He said: “We were disappointed with the Halifax game being cancelled as it felt like a great chance for us to bounce back.
“We were ready for the game and looking forward to getting back on the grass and putting things right.
“The last two results haven’t been what we wanted and we didn’t pick up the points we wanted.
“That’s credit to us though I guess for setting such high standards over the season that it leaves us wanting more every game.
“We’re such a determined and motivated group; we’re desperate for success and we’re constantly trying to improve.
“We want to win every game and we wanted to go and win at Halifax but the weather can’t be helped.
“It’s one of those things; we move forwards.”
Jacobs then spoke about Rochdale and the threats they bring. “They’re a top side, for sure,” he said.
“It’s going to be a good game and I think it’s a great game for us to bounce back to winning ways. They’re a strong side with threats all over the pitch.
“They’ll be looking to cause us problems and we’ll be looking to cause them more.
“In front of a big home crowd it feels like another good chance to get three points so we’ll be doing everything we can for that.
“We have to be aware of them too; it certainly won’t be a walk in the park. We’re going to have to leave everything out on the pitch.”
Finally, he touched on what it would mean to get the club promoted. He said: “I feel like I know what it would mean to the people of this area now.
“I feel part of it. To get this club promoted would be massive; it would mean everything.
“We’re in a great position but we have to keep working, we’ve won nothing yet.
One game at a time and hopefully by the end of the season we can celebrate.
“The fans are fantastic and after so many years of hurt it would be incredible to finally get this club back to where it belongs. We keep going.”
