“We have to be ready for them”

Assistant manager Danny Webb spoke with the media ahead of Saturday’s big National League clash with Bromley.

He began by reflecting on last week’s draw with Ebbsfleet, saying: “You have to give them [Ebbsfleet] credit.

“They played well and we have to see it as a point gained.

“With the other two teams not in action last week it really was a case of just trying to get something on the board.

“We’re still unbeaten at home and we’d like to continue that run until the end of the season.

“I thought there were things we could’ve done better but we also played some really nice stuff at times.

“It’s another point closer to the end goal so we take it and move on to the next fixture.”

Webb gave a snippet of team news ahead of the clash. “We’re doing okay,” he said.

“Ryan [Colclough] is still out, he’s done a bit of light running in the week but Saturday’s game is just too soon for him.

“I’m not sure on an exact time he’ll be back but the positive thing is he’s improving.

“Miguel [Freckleton] has been in and out of training this week. He was back with Sheffield United so they could look at the injury but he’s slowly getting back to us.

“He could travel tomorrow but we’ll see if it’s too soon for him to play.

“Everyone else is doing okay but we’ll judge that more after training today [Friday]. With the artificial pitch, we have to maybe be a bit more cautious with some of the lads.”

Finally, he touched on the artificial pitch down and Bromley and gave his opinion on how it could affect the game.

He said: “There’s no doubt about it; it’s different than playing on grass.

“It’s probably an advantage to the home teams that have those pitches but it definitely can’t be used as an excuse.

“It moves a bit slower on there and the ball bounces differently.

“We’ve been training on the surface this week so the lads had a chance to get used to it.

“However, in reality we just have to get on with it and play the game.

“There are no excuses on our end, we have to be ready for them.

“We must turn up and play our game.”
