Spireites boss Paul Cook spoke to the media this morning ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Harrogate Town, beginning with a reflection on his side’s three recent victories, saying: “A three-game-winning week changes your season. It changes anyone’s season, whether you’re down at the bottom or up at the top.
“If you put those wins together, the reality is that you’re going to jump up the league, so I’m delighted that we’ve gone from a position in the league that wasn’t (like) us, to a position where we’re looking upwards not downwards.
“We’re delighted that we’re going into the game with so much to play for, but if you get beat and lose three games on the bounce again, we’ll be right back to where we were, so it can change quickly and we know we’re in for a really difficult game.”
Talking about Bim Pepple’s good form, the manager said: “It’s part of football, he’s missed a couple of big chances in games – the Walsall chance comes to mind.
“He’s been excellent for us, though. The plan wasn’t for him to play the full 90 minutes against Notts County, but he’s had a three-game week for probably the first time in his league career. He’s got a few goals within that and he’s in top form and a very confident young man at the minute.”
He then gave positive news on the injury front, saying: “Will Grigg has been training with us this week. Kyle McFadzean will be on the grass with us on Monday and Harvey Araujo will be three of four days behind him.
“‘Griggy’ is going to be in the squad tomorrow, which is a great boost for us. Kyle will hopefully be in the squad next week at Barrow and hopefully we’ll have Harvey back involved for the game after.”
Speaking on the threat posed by Harrogate, Cook added: “I think Simon (Weaver), the staff and the players are punching above their weight. They will want to step on from that at some point and that’s for Simon and the owner to make that step.
“They’re a really tough opponent, they regularly beat teams above them, so we’re in for a really difficult game.
“Like every game, we look forward to it. Coming out of the National League into the Football League, everything is fresh and new so every game is tough.
“The game is tough tomorrow. Harrogate will come here with nothing to lose and everything to gain, so for us it’s about concentrating on the job in hand and making sure we turn up.”
