Webb hails performance

Assistant manager Danny Webb was delighted with the Spireites’ performance on Tuesday night, coming from a goal down to beat Notts County 3-1 at the Technique Stadium.

One-nil down at the break, Chesterfield rallied in the second period with Laurence Maguire scoring twice and Akwasi Asante adding a third goal at the end from the penalty spot.

Webb said: “I think it was excellent from start to finish.

“The manager has said in the office, even from his period before, this is one of, if not the best Tuesday night experience he’s had, which is a big statement.

“What a second-half performance, excellent and the boys should be very proud of themselves.

“It’s nice to be on the right side of the results.

“We’re the ones in the ascendancy but it’s only through the amount of effort and the quality of play that we showed in the second half in particular.

“All the players, including the ones who didn’t get on, are showing a real togetherness at the minute, in tough times. We’re second but we’re in tough times.

“We had not many players to choose from and they were absolutely fantastic.”
