Assistant manager Danny Webb spoke exclusively to 1866+ ahead of Tuesday night’s fixture against Carlisle.
Reflecting on Saturday’s 1-0 win at Barrow, he said: “We went through a few Monday mornings after the run of defeats where it was a little bit flat around the place, which you fully expect after defeats.
“I don’t want someone to be coming in singing and joking when you’ve just lost four on the trot.
“To have the opposite of that emotion flying about the place after winning is great, but you’re certainly enjoying it briefly before you’re focusing on the next game, which for us is Carlisle.”
Praising the good run of form from shot-stopper Ryan Boot, he added: “Ryan has been great, especially from one-on-one situations. I think something you see in goalkeepers, even someone of his experience, is how confidence grows.
“In the second half he came about 20 metres out of his goal to punch the ball clear from a deep free kick and that’s all about confidence.
“Ryan has been a fantastic player for this club over the last couple of seasons and he’s doing his best to keep that number one shirt.”
Danny then spoke about the unbeaten run of five games, saying: “It was disappointing not to beat Harrogate but if you flip it and beat Harrogate and got a draw on a horrible day at Barrow, we would have taken that.
“So, we can’t be too greedy in our demands, we’re going up against 11 players every week that are trying to beat us. It’s a step up from last year as I keep saying over and over again.”
“If we can keep learning on the job and being close to those top seven then it’ll be a successful season.”
Danny then took a look at Carlisle’s dangers: “Mark Hughes has been there a while now, so I think he’s probably been able to stamp his authority on the set-up and the tactics and the style of play.
“Sadly for him and for them, it hasn’t really been able to turn a corner. Some would say the damage was done earlier in the season, but I think they’ve still got enough games to turn it around and I’m sure they’ll want to kick-start their last little survival push against us.
“I remember playing there in the conference years ago and when you get promoted like we have, you think that’s it; we never want to go back there and it’s not looking good for them at the moment.
“A win tomorrow night and they’re only six adrift as opposed to nine, so I’m sure Mark will use all his experience to galvanize his players.”
