Following the heavy defeat at Colchester United last weekend, assistant manager Danny Webb spoke about the importance of putting the result to the back of the mind.
He said: “We’ve just got to make sure as a team that we don’t let that bad result of culture feed into our performance against Salford
“It was great we had that one Tuesday to get a little bit of it out of our system.
“Believe me, the players are going out on the pitch tomorrow and I know they want to go put it right after the bad day at the office on Saturday.
“But let’s get it right, here and now, we are still very, very close to that top three.”
The second of three successive home games, Salford City have enjoyed a good start to the season as they sit in the play-off places.
Both sides will be looking to help their respective promotion charges with a victory on Saturday.
“They’ll be wanting to kick on and they’re only one point ahead of us, so they’ll want to increase that gap,” Webb said.
“So, we’ve got two home games coming up. Obviously, we want maximum points, but we certainly know it won’t be as easy as that.
“I think if we win tomorrow, we could potentially be level in the top three. If we don’t win, we can drop down, that’s how football is.”
The Blues are unbeaten at home in the league, picking up three wins and two draws in their opening five at the SMH Group Stadium.
Webb believes that home form will be an important factor at making sure Chesterfield are at the ‘right end’ of the table.
“The pressure is on us and rightly so because we’re one of the favourites to be up the right end and we’ve got a good team, fantastic set of supporters.
“But we’ve got to make sure that we keep continuing this fortress-like atmosphere we’ve created here and the support we’ve created here.
“I haven’t left here many Saturday nights after games and been disappointed. We have to make sure that continues if we want to be at the right end.”
