Webb previews Salford match

Assistant manager Danny Webb spoke exclusively to 1866+ ahead of tomorrow evening’s trip to Salford City, beginning by reflecting on Saturday’s win by saying: “Everyone needed that result for different reasons, whatever the reasons are.
“We all know that certain things have gone on recently off the pitch which is very sad as a Chesterfield fan and those connected with the club.
“Winning makes your Sunday a little bit better and we haven’t had that feeling for a while, so it’s nice to have it. Now we have had it, we want to get back on track and start having more of those feelings because you can’t beat winning.
“Those lads never let us down in terms of effort. It was nice for the players as well to work as hard as they have been working and actually get a bit of reward from it, because we haven’t had that for a while now.”
Providing an update on the injury front, Danny added: “Will Grigg, Kyle McFadzean and Harvey Araujo have all been running quite hard at the Erwin Training Ground today.
“I don’t think they’ll be fit for tomorrow night, but maybe on Saturday and the week after.”
Looking at Salford, Danny said: “They’re a team that’s been on a slightly iffy run of form since they played Manchester City in the cup.
“They’ve dropped to 11th in the league. If we beat them tomorrow and win our game in hand then we’ll overtake them, so that’s how quick things can change.
“We’ve now been in that lower half of the table for longer than we want and the only way you get out of it is by winning games.
“It’s nice to go to Salford, the pitch won’t be great, but it’s good to be going there after a win; confidence levels go up a little bit, supporters belief goes up a little bit, and then we’ve got that massive game at Notts County on Saturday.
“When we played them here they were down the lower end of the table and they went on a hell of a run after they got their point here, and now they’ve got a bit of bad form again.
“We’re the opposite really, we started really well and gradually tailed off so we need to make sure we use Saturday’s result as a springboard on to better things.”
Danny’s full thoughts can be heard on 1866 Sport in the pre-match build-up tomorrow evening, with coverage beginning from 7pm.
