Webb reflects on Central League outing

After a Chesterfield XI lost out narrowly to Central League leaders Salford City B, Danny Webb spoke on the positives of the game, with several senior players getting important minutes in the tank after spells out with injury.

Speaking after the match, Danny said: “It’s been a good workout for all the lads that have been coming back from injury over the last few weeks and months who need to play games and get minutes in their legs.

“There have been a lot of lads out over the last couple of months and now that they’re back, there’s more and more competition to get into that starting line-up. Getting minutes is exactly what these kinds of games are for.

“It was great to see the likes of Ash Palmer and Vontae Daley-Campbell back on the grass in a Chesterfield shirt –  they have been out for a while but recovered and trained well since returning.”

Academy prospect Kaden Scott lined up in the Chesterfield defence for the game and Danny outlined how the match will have helped his development: “For young Kaden to be playing with a seasoned professional like Ash Palmer at his side will have done him the world of good.

“Football in these types of games is played in a more physical way, so he’ll be developing aspects that he might not be challenged with during traditional youth fixtures.”
