Forward James Berry spoke exclusively to 1866+ this week ahead of the away fixture at Crewe, discussing recent performances and how he has enjoyed his time with the club after returning on loan in the summer.
Talking about the feeling within the camp after victory over Grimsby Town, he said: “The lads are all really together; it’s a tight-knit group. Going to places like Grimsby, we all stick together and run for each other. Those are the kind of wins that we all pat ourselves on the back for.
“A place like Grimsby is tough to go to and the lads were brilliant. We were all spurring each other on, so it was a great win for the lads and the town.”
Praising the ongoing support from the fans, he added: “We’re very lucky as a team. We’ve got great following support. The support at Grimsby and Tranmere as well are the ones that stick in my mind.
“We were at Crewe at the start of last season and we took a lot of support and I think it will be the same this time. We’ve got a great home crowd and a great travelling crowd as well.”
Expanding on the preparations for Crewe, Berry added: “Last time I played them was the 5-0 win for us and I scored two myself, so it’s good a good memory for me and I’m hoping for more of the same.
“Wins like that give you a massive confidence boost and we want to keep our unbeaten run intact, so we’re going there looking for the win.”
Talking about how he has found his return to the club, he said: “I’ve made it no secret that I absolutely love it here. The team, the staff, the community, everyone that works here, I’m really close to everyone.
“Fitting back in was easy. I’m really thankful to the gaffer for bringing me back and he knew that I was going to fit straight back in.
“I feel like I’m playing really well and I’m just really happy at this moment in time.”
