Danny Webb spoke with the media ahead of Saturday’s clash with Exeter City in the second round of the Emirates FA Cup.
He began by reflecting on the recent win over Barrow, saying: “It’s always a happier mood around the place following a win.
“We needed that – it was vital we picked up those three points and we came away happy.
“We know we’ve not picked up as many points as we’d have liked at home this season, so it was good to get back to winning ways.
“I thought we played well, considering the poor weather too. It’s three points in the bag, and all focus is now on tomorrow.”
Webb then previewed the Cup tie with Exeter. “It’s one hell of a journey, that’s for sure,” he said.
“There’s no excuses, though – we’re heading down today [Friday], so the lads will be ready to go by kick-off.
“I wouldn’t say it’s a free hit tomorrow, but for sure the pressure is off us a little bit, and we’ll go into the game as underdogs. Gary [Caldwell] has got them playing some great football.
“They’ll be a tough side to break down, and for sure, we’re going to have to be at our best if we want to get anything out of the game. We’re going there looking to progress to the next round.”
Finally, he gave an insight into the team going into the game.
He said: “We’re doing okay. Dilan Markanday won’t be available, as Blackburn haven’t given him permission to play.
“Although it’s disappointing for us, you have to understand it from their point of view, which we do. We’ll just get on with it and deal with it.
“Max [Thompson] is fit and will be involved in some way tomorrow.
“Everyone else is okay, and we’re just continuing to get on with things.
“We have a great squad, and we have more than enough quality to go down there and cause an upset.
“Thanks to all the fans who are making the trip, we really appreciate it.”
