Paul Cook spoke exclusively to 1866+ ahead of the Spireites’ League Two clash against Wimbledon, saying: “We picked up a couple of injuries in the game (Carlisle), which is the most significant & disappointing thing, but that’s football.
“We’ll just get on with it, we’ve got a tough game against a team in fine form. They’re very well organised, very strong. We’re competing at the top end of the league where we want to be, so we know we’ve got our hands full.”
Speaking on the injury woes within the squad, he added: “We’re being extremely stretched now. It’s getting to the point where it’s difficult because of the games coming up quickly. We’ve got the four games over Christmas with Fleetwood, Bradford and MK Dons as well as Wimbledon tomorrow, so we’ve got to be careful now.
“The lads had a great week last week knocking three wins out, which was a big challenge. When the squad gets stretched it brings a bit more solidity to a group of lads. You’re not looking over your shoulder at someone to come into the team.
“We’re in a town where everyone supports us, they know the ins and outs of what’s going on. So the help tomorrow might come from the bench, but it might come from the stands.”
