Chesterfield FC Women returned to winning ways on Sunday afternoon with a 4-0 victory at home to York City Ladies which takes them up to second in the table.
They went into the game looking for a response following a defeat last weekend.
There were three changes made to the starting XI with Watkinson, Delaney and Mann coming in with O’Brien and Singleton making the bench.
York set up very well and stayed compact and disciplined as the Spireites struggled to break them down in open play.
The opening goal from Foster came from a corner whipped in my Watkinson. There was a scramble in the box and Foster got the final touch.
York again stayed disciplined and the Spireites created a few half-chances but had to remain patient for the second goal. Again, it was another great corner by Watkinson which saw Clarkson inside the box and she found the corner of the net with a sweetly-struck on the volley.
In the second half, York pressed to try and get into the game which allowed the Spireites space to play. A pin-point pass from Butterworth between both centre-backs found Foster who took her goal well to add another to the Spireites tally.
The fourth goal came when Harrison crossed the ball from the 18-yard box and it took a deflection off a defender to go into the net.
It was a deserved clean sheet for keeper Carroll and the back four.
