Young Spireites in FA Youth Cup action this evening

The young Spireites will take on Boldmere St Michaels FC at Sheffield FC in the first round proper of the FA Youth Cup this evening (Wednesday), with a 7.30pm kick-off.

Originally due to be played last Thursday, the game was called-off due to a waterlogged pitch and had to be rearranged.

Season ticket holders will be granted free entry to the match. Otherwise, admission will cost £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.

In the previous round, Chesterfield defeated Heather St Johns 6-0. The win was secured with braces from James Simmonite and Koby Eratt-Thompson, along with goals from Oliver Bointon and Tom Pawson.

Goalscorer Bointon said: I thought we were solid throughout the whole game. We had to adapt to the conditions, so we played a bit more direct.”

Meanwhile, Boldmere St Michaels battled to a 4-3 victory over Ingles to set up the tie.

In last year’s competition, the Spireites were eliminated at this stage against Port Vale. However, this time around, the aim will be to progress further.
