Danny Webb stressed the need to put Saturday’s result behind them and focus on the task in hand at Colchester United on Tuesday night.
He said: “When you know you’ve got a tough trip to Colchester against a very good team and in a good run of form, you’ve got to snap out of it.
“Our Monday mornings of the last few years have been bouncing with everyone laughing and joking so sometimes it’s good for your development, it’s good for your mindset, to actually have a little bit of adversity.”
The assistant manager admitted that the positive message received from Tyrone Williams provided everyone with a boost in the aftermath of Saturday’s game.
“It puts football in perspective,” he said. “I think more details will come out in time but he’s making good progress and that’s the main thing. I think it was probably nice for supporters after such a disappointing result to read something like that about one of their favourite players.”
Giving his thoughts on the opposition, Webb said: “They’re a very strong team. I think the Cowleys have been there for a while now and they seem to really have got their way of playing now. Players are really buying into it.
“Sometimes it just takes a Tuesday night and a five-hour trip to get back to winning ways.”
Janoi Donacien, who has a sore knee after taking a knock at the weekend, is a doubt for the game. “We might leave it as late as you can to make a decision on that one,” said Webb. “Apart from that, we’re in a good position where Lewis Gordon’s now available for selection and Griggy’s sort of back on the grass so, yeah, it’s looking good.”
