Assistant manager Danny Webb spoke with the media ahead of Saturday’s opening National League fixture at home to Dorking Wanderers.
He began by touching on his excitement for the forthcoming season. “I’m so buzzing, this is what it’s all about,” he said.
“There’s nothing better than a Saturday afternoon when you work in football and to have the league back and the competitive edge in games is brilliant.
“We’re all so excited. I honestly can’t tell you how buzzing we are to get going, all eyes are on the big game on Saturday now.
“Despite the disappointing end to last season, all the lads came back hungrier than ever and ready to put it behind them and go again this season.”
Danny touched on the health of the squad going into the first game and the acquisition of goalkeeper Ryan Boot.
He said: “We’re delighted to capture Ryan’s signature, it’s a massive signing for us.
“We’re buzzing to have him here, he’s a quality goalkeeper. In my opinion, he’s been one of the best keepers in the National League over the past few years so for me it’s a fantastic signing.
“We’re good going into tomorrow, no more injuries to report as we speak. Bailey Clements is still out; we got his scan results back this week and unfortunately, he’s our for at least a few weeks.
“It’s a shame for the lad as he finished the season off strongly and got off to a good start in pre-season but that’s why we have such a strong squad. We’re replacing quality with quality in every position.”
Finally, Danny gave his thoughts on the opposition and what he expects them to bring, saying: “Without doubt, they bring their own qualities. They’re a good side and have some real dangermen.
“It’s going to be a tough fixture, we will be favourites but it won’t be easy, no game this season will.
“We’ve got a lot of outside noise on us this year, but we’re focusing on ourselves and not letting any of that distract us.
“Come 3pm on Saturday it’s 11v11 and we have to turn up and put on a show in-front of our fantastic supporters.”
