Spireites bring joy to children’s ward at Chesterfield Royal Hospital

Representatives of the club recently visited the children’s ward at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, hoping to inspire the next generation of Spireites.

Assistant-manager Danny Webb, director Ashley Kirk and marketing manager Bridget Ball popped in and donated a selection of baby kits to Nightingale ward.

As well as speaking with staff and patients, a kit for babies around a year old was handed over to young Bella, who was receiving inpatient care and the rest will be given out to younger patients over the coming days.

Bridget said: “It’s lovely to see Bella enjoying her kit and to be able to say a personal thank you for all that staff do not only on this ward but throughout the hospital.

“At Chesterfield Football Club, we understand the value of the community, and Chesterfield Royal Hospital is a big part of that. We wanted to do something that would show our appreciation and our thanks for keeping our community – and some of our players on occasion – safe and well.

“We’re also hoping to inspire a few children out there who may go on to be in one of our future teams!

“Thank you for all you do – and we hope that this will strengthen links between the club and the hospital.”

Jenny Reaney, Play Specialist team leader, said: ”We are so grateful for this visit today and it is lovely to see the smiles that Danny, Ash and Bridget have raised with colleagues and patients.

“Community is important to us and there is no doubt that the excitement of the last few days has been a big talking point with families who have been here.

“We are very proud of what the team has achieved and the example they have set. They are great role models, and we would like to say thank you for their time and the kits which have gone down really well.”
