“It feels amazing. I’m really happy to be back.”

New signing Devan Tanton spoke to 1866+ after he became the seventh addition of the summer, joining from Fulham on a season-long loan.
After the deal was finalised, he said: “It feels amazing. I’m really happy to be back. Obviously my last loan was cut a bit short. I struggled a bit on a physical level but now it’s good to get in early to be able to do the pre-season that I wasn’t able to do last year.
“The gaffer was saying that they were interested in taking me back on and that we had some unfinished business, which I completely agreed about because I left (last season) feeling a bit bittersweet, wanting to give a lot more and knowing my capabilities.”
Speaking about his relationship with Paul Cook and the rest of the dressing room, he added: “I’ve always felt a very strong backing from the coach. He’s always said I can give a lot and he’s put a lot of confidence in me, so I want to repay that.
“I really enjoyed my time here. I enjoyed getting to know the lads, competing in men’s football was great for me and I just want to get back going.
“I saw that Dilan Markanday had come back, which was nice to see and then seeing Matt (Dibley-Dias) from Fulham was another familiar face, so I’m excited for this team.”
Tanton featured 11 times last season, and expressed his desire to get back out onto the pitch.
“I miss the crowd for sure. When you see how confident the club is to keep improving and push for promotion. It’s clear that the ceiling is very high or non-existent with this club.
“You always get a sense that the team wants to do some great things and not just get comfortable in a league.
“I want to be able to play consistently. I think getting this pre-season is going to really help and show a bit more of me, get some more end product and have some good moments here.”
The Spireites’ next pre-season fixture sees Nottingham Forest visit the SMH Group Stadium at 2pm on Saturday afternoon.
