Academy products James Sissons and Alex Whitney have now joined Gunner Elliott in signing professional contracts with the club, making it three success stories for the young Spireites in the last 12 months.
Maltese forward Elliott has committed his future for another year by signing an improved contract during the summer, nearly 12 months on from signing his first professional deal with the club.
Alex Whitney has followed in his footsteps, earning a professional contract after stepping up into the first-team environment last season and impressing during training as well as making his senior debut in the Vertu Trophy.
Meanwhile, Maltese goalkeeper James Sissons has also become a part of the first-team fold and will train alongside fellow shot-stoppers Zach Hemming and Ryan Boot. The deal comes after Sissons impressed hugely during the 2025/26 season in which he was named Academy Player of the Year, which was followed up by a senior international debut for Malta in a 2-0 away win over Azerbaijan.
Academy manager Neil Cluxton has overseen the development of the three players during their time at the club so far. Commenting on the success for the academy, he said: “All three lads have worked extremely hard with support from the first-team and academy staff to make the step-up from the youth setup.
“They’re now all in an environment where they can continue to develop, learn and become assets to the club.”
