Joel Randall signs on loan

Chesterfield Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Joel Randall on a season-long loan from Bolton Wanderers.

The 26-year-old deadline-day signing will link up with Paul Cook’s squad ahead of Saturday’s home fixture against Barnet, and adds another layer of midfield strength and attacking threat to the ranks.

Randall came up through Exeter City’s youth ranks before moving onto Peterborough United where he notched 19 goals and 16 assists in 109 games.

He then enjoyed spells with Bolton Wanderers and Blackpool Town (loan) under former Spireite Ian Evatt, helping him reach over 100 League One appearances.

After getting the deal done late on deadline day, Randall said: “I’m really happy to finally get it over the line. Chesterfield was always the place I wanted to play football this season.

“I’ve known of the interest for a couple of weeks. We’ve had on and off contact and I’ve been keeping an eye on the club. I asked around and everything was positive about the gaffer, club and fans, so that made it an easy decision.”

Discussing what he will bring to the team, he said: “When I’m at my best, I’m creating, I’m scoring and I’m making a difference. That’s something I want to get back to and I feel like this is a great place to do that with a good, striving team.”

Randall will be available for selection for Saturday’s game against Barnet. Tickets are available here.
