On West Brom
The club was founded in 1878 as West Bromwich Strollers and spent the majority of their history in the top two divisions of English football. Early success saw a First Division title as well as two runner-up finishes.
When it comes to domestic competitions, the Baggies have found major success in both the League Cup and the FA Cup. To go with their one League Cup, West Brom have also made ten FA Cup finals – winning five of them.
In recent years, the West Midlands club have bounced between the Premier League and the Championship. After the departure of Steve Bruce in October, Carlos Coberan has changed the fortunes of Albion and turned them into genuine contenders for promotion back to the top level of English football.
One to watch
Jed Wallace is known as one of the Championship’s most dangerous playmakers and has been during his short stint so far with the Baggies and his time with Millwall. The winger started his career at Portsmouth before moving onto Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2015. His time at Molineux was marred by sporadic game time and Wallace subsequently was sent out on loan twice to Millwall. He impressed at the Den and signed permanently in 2017, where he spent five seasons becoming a fan favourite and establishing the Lions as a Championship club. His form was rewarded in a move to West Bromwich Albion in the summer of 2022 and his performances have been a big reason for the Baggies’ recent surge up the table.
