Danny Webb was fulsome in his praise after Tuesday night’s 2-0 victory over Wrexham at the Technique Stadium.
First-half goals from Jeff King and Ollie Banks gave the Spireites all three points following an impressive performance.
Webb said: “I think it’s a night to be proud of the team, the performance, the pitch – which is a credit to the ground staff – the supporters and the town.
“They got behind us, they had plenty to sing about but, as always, they started it, The whistle goes and they all get behind us and that gives all our players a lift.
“Yes, we’re only three games in, but the supporters more than anyone should enjoy the night. The players and staff know that come Saturday we have another tough game at Notts County.
“It was a great performance, it’s one of them, you think at half time it’s going to take one heck of a u-turn to not be happy with the performance in the second half.
“They maintained the performance and kept it up and I think you saw how we extinguished their main threats, long throws and corners.”
