England MU21s will head to Chesterfield and Huddersfield for a crucial U21 EURO qualifier in June.
Lee Carsley’s side are currently second in Group G with two games in hand on leaders Czech Republic knowing only table toppers will be guaranteed a place at the 2023 UEFA European U21 Championship in Romania and Georgia.
The Young Lions will start the final round of qualifiers with a trip to Czech Republic before hosting Albania at the Technique Stadium on Tuesday, June 7 (7.45pm kick-off). An away fixture in Kosovo will follow with England concluding their qualifying campaign against Slovenia in Huddersfield on Monday, June 13 (7.45pm kick-off).
Carsley said: “We’ve enjoyed some fantastic experiences across the country throughout this qualifying campaign and will now hope to end on a high in Chesterfield and Huddersfield.
“As is the case throughout our player pathway, we’re fortunate to have an exciting crop of young players who have the opportunity to take England to another tournament. The support from the stands across these two games will be vital in helping get us over the line.”
The MU21s last played at Chesterfield in October 2018; a 7-0 win over Andorra during qualifying for the 2019 U21 EURO. You have to go back to June 1999 for this age group’s last fixture in Huddersfield which was a 3-0 victory against Sweden during 2000 U21 EURO qualifying.
