Spireites beat Bromley

The Spireites secured a 3-2 victory over fellow promotion hopefuls Bromley at the Technique Stadium.

Goals from Jeff King and Ollie Banks, along with a penalty from Kabongo Tshimanga, sealed all three points.

The Spireites dominated the opening ten minutes of the game, keeping Bromley under sustained pressure, however they struggled to carve out any clear-cut chances.

The Spireites took the lead in the 13th minute through King, who collected the ball on the right-hand side, cut onto his left foot and stroked the ball into the bottom left corner.

Banks hit the side netting after connecting with a cross from Darren Oldaker at the back post.

Bromley had a chance through Omar Sowunmi when he met the ball with his head, following a long throw in, however Ross Fitzsimons managed to easily gather the ball.

The Spireites came close through Liam Mandeville when King pulled the ball back to him in the box, but his attempt was deflected wide.

The Spireites went into half time with a 1-0 lead.

Bromley equalised in the 52nd minute. Ethan Coleman ran with the ball down the left-hand side, getting to the by-line and pulling the ball back to Adam Marriott who found the net.

The Spireites came agonisingly close during a counterattack, with Armando Dobra striking the post and moments later Tshimanga having his attempt cleared off the line.

The Spireites regained the lead in the 61st minute. King crossed the ball from the right-hand side, the cross found Banks unmarked inside the area, who headed the ball home.

Dobra came close to doubling the Spireites lead after driving through the middle and getting a shot away that went narrowly wide.

The Spireites won a penalty in the 72nd minute when King was brought down in the box.

In the 73rd minute Tshimanga slotted the penalty into the left-hand corner, sending the keeper the wrong way.

Marriot pulled a goal back for Bromley in the 78th minute after heading the ball in from close range.

James Vennings tried his luck from range for Bromley late in the game, but his attempt went just over the bar.

Fitzsimons made a fantastic save in added time following a shot from Charles Clayden.
