Spireites secure play-off spot

The Spireites played out a 0-0 draw with Woking at the Technique Stadium to secure a spot in the National League play-offs, where they will face FC Halifax Town.

Woking’s Nicke Kabamba had the first chance of the game after finding space inside the Spireites penalty area and attempting an overhead kick, but his attempt went wide of a post.

Danny Rowe dragged a long-range free kick wide for the Spireites.

Jim Kellermann came close for the Spireites with an attempt from inside the area, but his attempt was deflected for a corner.

The Spireites had another attempt blocked when Jeff King tried his luck from outside the box.

Saidou Khan almost put Chesterfield into the lead after connecting with a cross from King, but his attempt hit the outside of the bar and went behind for a goal kick.

Scott Loach was forced into making a great save when Woking’s Max Kretzschmar received the ball inside the box and had an attempt on goal.

The Spireites came close again when King tried to bend the ball across goal from the right-hand side, but his attempt went narrowly wide of the post.

The Spireites went into half time with the score 0-0, having created some good chances in the first half.

Woking had a goal disallowed after Inih Effiong was pulling Tyrone Williams’ shirt before going one-on-one.

Tom Denton had an attempt, a looping header from inside the area, which went over the bar.

Rowe tested the Woking keeper, with a great effort from range, which Ross parried away. Liam Mandeville got onto the loose ball and tested Ross again, once again the keeper parried away.

The Spireites continued to keep up the pressure on Woking and Khan’s attempt from the left-hand side of the box forced a good save from Ross.

Woking substitute Soloman Nwabuokei managed to get a shot away inside the Spireites penalty area, but his effort took a deflection, resulting in a corner.
