The Spireites recorded a fourth victory in a row with a 3-1 triumph over ten-man Eastleigh at the Silverlake Stadium.
James Berry netted his third goal in four games in the first half before Liam Mandeville and Will Grigg scored in the last ten minutes to confirm the win.
Paul Cook named an unchanged squad from the one that was victorious against Southend United a week ago.
The away side dominated possession early on, but it was Eastleigh who created the first chances of the game.
Ryheem Sheckleford was dispossessed by Chris Maguire, who fed in Scott Quigley, and the striker was denied by Harry Tyrer.
Soon after, Enzio Boldewijn’s wicked cross found the head of Paul McCallum, who headed straight at Tyrer.
Chesterfield’s first shot of the game saw Berry try his luck from 25 yards; the effort failed to dip under the crossbar.
Michael Jacobs had a couple of chances towards goal but didn’t really trouble Joe McDonnell in the Eastleigh goal.
With just over five minutes until half time, Grigg slipped Berry through on goal and the winger confidently fired past the ‘keeper.
McCallum was shown two yellow cards in four minutes, just before added time. The first booking was for dissent and the second was a poor challenge on Tom Naylor.
A second goal almost came four minutes into the second half; Sheckleford found Naylor, who tried his luck from a tight angle, but his effort was palmed away by McDonnell.
Berry and Jamie Grimes saw their efforts go just wide of the goal from close-range.
However, the game was killed off with five minutes to go. Substitute Armando Dobra found Mandeville with a lovely reverse ball and the midfielder rifled the ball in at the near post.
A minute later, the lead was stretched to three. Another substitute in Ollie Banks saw his low ball turned in by Grigg from two yards out.
The victory saw Chesterfield go 19 points clear of Bromley with two games in hand.
