Chesterfield FC Women got off to an emphatic start in the first game of the season versus Anstey Nomads in the East Midlands Premier Division with an 11-0 victory!
The Spireites got off to a flying start in the eighth minute with a headed goal from Evie Carter, after good work from 16-year-old Elin Morin.
New signing Laura Porritt soon made it 2-0 with another header from a Morin cross. In the 13th minute, Sophie Marshall added a third with a curling shot into the bottom corner.
Centre-back Amy Nowell (37) marked her debut with a looping header before Marshall got her second of the game.
Just before the interval, Nowell grabbed her second of the game to make it 6-0 and a half of football to remember for Pete Jarvis’ side.
After the break, there was no let up by the Blues, with Jess Waplington marking another debut goal after more good work by Morin. Soon after, Abbie Staples (69) found her way onto the scoresheet to make it 8-0.
The Spireites weren’t finished yet. Morin, being a constant threat to the visitors, grabbed another assist as Marshall capped off an amazing performance from her to claim her hat-trick.
With not let up, the Spireites piled on more pressure and were rewarded with a tenth goal when Romy Sheppard slotted in a cool finish.
The final goal of the day came from Millie Standen to make it 11-0 and cap off a great team performance.
The Blues make the short trip to Shirebrook Town FC on Wednesday in their first away game of the season versus SJR Worksop.
