Golf day to remember John Duncan

A golf day is taking place this summer in memory of former Chesterfield manager John Duncan, who passed away last October at the age of 73.

The event, at Ramsdale Park Golf Centre in Nottinghamshire, is being organised by Narinder Chopra, who was a friend of John’s for many years.

The pair initially formed a friendship as neighbours and regularly played golf together. Narinder came up with the idea of a golf day as a fitting way of paying tribute to John.

“We played a lot of golf together and we had a lot of fun. I wanted to do something to remember John and celebrate his life,” said Narinder.

“It is a good venue to go to as it’s only around 40 minutes from Chesterfeld and there are plenty of buggies for those who need them.

“John’s daughters will be attending and I’m sure they’ll be very pleased to see people there honouring their dad’s memory.”

Ten current and former managers have already signed-up to play and a number of retired players who played under John are also expected to attend.

The golf day will take place on Friday, June 9 and the entry fee is £65, which includes bacon butties with tea/coffee, followed by a meal after the round of golf. Various prizes will also be available to win.
