Stadium
Gateshead International Stadium
Opened: 1955
Capacity: 11,800 (all-seated)
Address: Neilson Road, Gateshead NE10 0EF
Primarily used for athletics, the stands at the stadium are somewhat significantly set back from the pitch, with the running track going around the playing area.
Home fans are housed in the most modern stand, the Tyne & Wear Main Stand, which holds 3,227 supporters. There is a large café/bar area on this side as well as corporate facilities.
The opposite side of the ground is where away supporters will be located, the 4,044-capacity East Stand.
There is one long curving stand behind one of the goals, and two separate ones behind the other, but none of these are in use for football matches.
To access the East Stand, fans will enter through Gate 21 on Neilson Road, cross the all-weather pitches, then climb a stone staircase to the side of the East Stand. Any fans with accessibility issues will be directed to an alternative route.
Supporters will have access to food inside the ground, but will not have access to alcohol inside the ground as the servery is in view of the pitch.
Flags are allowed but must be hung as directed by stewards. Drums and other musical instruments will not be allowed.
Pubs
As there is no alcohol served inside the away end, and the bar inside the Main Stand is for home fans only, the closest place to go pre-match is a pub called The Schooner.
This is a short walk from the stadium, located on South Shore Road on the banks of the river Tyne.
There are a few more options in the centre of Gateshead, such as Ye Olde Fleece, The William IV and a Wetherspoon called The Tilley Stone.
Newcastle city centre is a short distance away and of course has a plethora of pubs and bars.
Away supporters info
Drums and other musical instruments will NOT be allowed.
Additional public parking is signposted and available near to the stadium.
