On FC Halifax Town
FC Halifax Town have only been around for a small number of years after they replaced Halifax Town AFC, which went into administration in the 2007/08 season. Huge tax debts buried Halifax Town AFC after almost 100 years as a football club.
Halifax’s three main rivals are Burnley, Rochdale and Huddersfield Town. They have spent their years floating around the non-league pyramid and reached the National League in 2013. They have endured promotion pushing campaigns but are yet to be successful in their attempts to get to the Football League. They went close in 2019/20, losing to Boreham Wood in the play-off semi-final and also last season, when they were defeated by the Spireites in the play-off eliminator.
This season they sit in 16th position, just nine points above the relegation zone. Although it looks unlikely they will go down this season, the Shaymen will be looking to secure more vital points to guarantee their spot in the National League for another season.
One to watch
Matty Warburton is an English-born midfielder who has an eye for a goal or an assist. He’s had a number of clubs over his career, such as Stockport County, Northampton Town and Salford City. He signed the FC Halifax Town in 2021 and has made 52 appearances for the club, scoring 14 goals.
This season the 30-year-old has scored two goals in 15 appearances, including one in their last outing against Yeovil Town.
