On Michael Doyle

The former Coventry City, Sheffield United, Notts County and Republic of Ireland midfielder has made his first foray into management with the Woking job. Following his retirement in 2002, Doyle left his position of assistant head coach at Notts County to join manager Ian Burchnall at Forest Green Rovers. Darren Sarll’s departure in November opened the door for Doyle to take his first managerial job.

One to watch

Despite only playing 15 times so far this season, Reece Grego-Cox is currently top of Woking’s scoring charts with seven goals. He also put up good numbers last season with reduced game time. Since the game against the Spireites in November, the attacker has scored twice in three games.

This season in numbers:

Appearances – 15

Goals – 7

Yellow Cards – 3

Red Cards – 0

Minutes Played – 598

Played for both

Manny Oyeleke joined the Spireites in 2021 from EFL side Port Vale. His two years in North Derbyshire was unfortunately marred by injuries. The midfielder missed the entirety of the 2022/23 due to injury.

He joined Woking in the summer of 2023 with the hope of being able to get back into full-time playing. Oyeleke has played a handful of times since joining the Cardinals but unfortunately suffered an injury against Aldershot Town on New Year’s Day.

View from the dugout

Danny Webb said: “They have a new manager since we last played them and he’s a fantastic person.

“I’m sure he’ll be looking to change the style of the team and try and get the team to safety. They’ll be fighting for sure.”
