Chesterfield FC’s dedicated fixture in support of the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal will be the game against Accrington Stanley on Saturday, November 8.
The match will honour the contribution of Armed Forces communities, past and present. Service people from the Royal Lancers and other services as well as local veterans will parade before kick-off. If there are any questions about serving and ex-service people attending the game, please contact Oli Barnes, who leads the Trust’s Buddy Buddy group, via [email protected].
The ceremony to remember the 21 players and officials of the football club who died in the wars of the last century will take place on Monday, November 10, at 1.30pm. There is match on the Tuesday that precludes the players paying their respects on Armistice Day, so players, officials, staff and fans will gather at the War Memorial in the Memorial Garden on the previous afternoon. All are welcome to attend.
The Royal British Legion enamel badges featuring the club crest alongside the poppy are available in the Club Superstore; conventional poppies are in there, as well as in the stadium reception and the HUB.
