“We’ve got to go and attack the game and we want to win”

First-team coach Gary Roberts spoke exclusively to 1866+ on Monday, with the Spireites set to face Doncaster Rovers in a Vertu Trophy round of 32 game at the Eco-Power Stadium on Tuesday evening (7pm).
The match is the first of two consecutive games against the South Yorkshire outfit, with Paul Cook’s side welcoming Doncaster to the SMH Group Stadium in the second round of the FA Cup for a 7:30pm kick-off on Saturday evening.
Firstly reflecting on the weekend loss to Swindon Town, Roberts said: “Really disappointing still, but that game is put to bed now. We’ve gone over it; it’s so disappointing to lose our home record.
“We’ve got a game Tuesday that we have to prepare for, and then we’ve got a big game on Saturday. In football, the next game comes really quick and we’ll be prepared for that one now.”
Roberts then looked at the importance of the two upcoming fixtures against Doncaster.
“Different cup competitions, different priorities for both clubs, but we’ve got to go and attack the game and we want to win.
“It’ll be a chance for lads who haven’t played as much to play and put everyone in the frame to play in the FA Cup game on Saturday. We’ll go into the game with full respect to the competition, we’ll give it a good go and see how it goes.”
With several players nearing a return from injury over recent weeks, he added: “We could possibly get Luke Butterfield involved tomorrow.
“Ryan Stirk and Will Grigg may possibly be on the bench. If not, we’ll be looking towards Saturday for those two, which is big for us.
“To have those three boys nearly there now is really pleasing and it’ll help the squad as well.”
