“They don’t come much tougher than this”

Assistant manager Danny Webb spoke with the media ahead of the away trip to Boreham Wood and he began by reiterating the message of keeping the players’ feet on the ground.

He said: “We’re all pleased with how things are going so far. It is only so far though; we need to remember that.

“I say it before every game but we’ll keep saying it, it’s only so far and there’s a long way to go.

“We’re keeping our feet on the ground and we’re ensuring the lads do the same too.

“We don’t have to do that really though; they keep themselves grounded as they’re a great bunch of lads who know we’ve achieved nothing yet.”

Webbthen spoke about team news and how hard picking the team will be. “We’ve been in the office this morning talking about how hard it is to pick the team each week,” he said.

“We’ve got so many quality players and it is tough but that’s a blessing because we have such a good quality squad with lots of depth.

“There’s always if, buts and maybes but we have to make these decisions. All the squad can see no one is beyond a rest, everyone needs minutes but they also need a rest and squad rotation is good for us.

“It keeps oppositions guessing too, most teams we play won’t know what’s coming.”

Finally, Webb touched on the threat posed by Boreham Wood. He said: “Well we all know that Boreham Wood is a seriously tough place to go.

“They don’t come much tougher than this. It’s fair to say that they’ve caused teams problems over the years but this season haven’t started as well.

“They’ll be up there by the end of the season, I’m sure of it. They really do what they do well and I’m sure it’ll be another tough game that we have to be at our best at.”
