“We have to be ready for them and we will be”

Spireites midfielder Ollie Banks spoke with 1866 Sport ahead of Saturday’s home fixture against Wealdstone.

He began by reflecting on the dramatic win over FC Halifax Town in midweek, saying: “We’re just buzzing to keep winning, to be honest.

“The boys just keep finding a way to win, we’re overcoming anything put in our path at the minute and it’s really pleasing.

“There’s plenty of things we need to work on and we’re not the finished article but we’re getting better every day and working hard.

“Tuesday’s game felt like everything was going against us but we found a way to win and that’s the important thing – three points.”

On the standard of the division, Ollie said: “This league just gets tougher and tougher every year.

“There really is no easy game and Wealdstone won’t be one of them either. They’ll come here to win, simple as that.

“We have to be ready for them and we will be. It’s another fantastic opportunity to get three points in front of our supporters.

“There’s pressure playing for this club every game we go into; we can’t afford to take our foot off the gas.”

Finally, Ollie touched on the importance of the home supporters.

“Our supporters are absolutely fantastic, we appreciate them a lot,” he said.

“it’s vital we win our home games if we want to achieve anything this year.

“It’s literally like having a 12th man sometimes inside this stadium, it really does help the boys get over the line.

“We’ll be expecting nothing less on Saturday. We know the fans will get behind us and we’ll be doing everything we can to reward them with all three points.”
