Assistant-manager Danny Webb spoke about the sense of belief amongst the squad following the Spireites’ 3-2 victory over Southend United at the Technique Stadium.
The Spireites took the lead in the 19th minute through Jack Clarke, before Callum Powell (33) equalised.
After Ollie Banks was sent off late in the first half, Marcus Dackers (46) put the visitors ahead.
Joe Quigley (63) levelled and Jeff King struck a superb 69th minute winner.
After the match, Webb said: “I think we are all getting our heart-rate back to normal; players, fans, staff all included. That’s what people come and pay to watch football for isn’t it, nights like tonight.
“We rode a storm after they scored which I thought was important. We made a change with Tim [Akinola] coming on, who gave us a bit more structure.
“Whatever you try and do tactically, you’re playing against a good team.
“After the equaliser, it was amazing really because on the bench there was a sense of ‘right okay lets go and win it’ as opposed to relief that we had equalised.
“You saw the celebrations from the bench, the supporters and the players, and there is a real belief at the minute that if we are drawing, we will go and win the game.
“Between the equaliser and the third goal, I was really pleased with our defensive shape.”
